Public input results in top five names
for old mall site

OGDEN, Utah (February 1, 2006)—The Ogden Redevelopment Agency Board would like to thank the members of the community who participated in the public campaign for naming the Old Mall Site. The Board received 1,050 suggestions from the public.

A selection team, comprised of ten individuals from the community with marketing and public relations expertise, was formed to help facilitate the selection process. The team members were:
Mike Caldwell (Weber County Public Information Officer, Ice Sheet)
Curt Geiger (Descente North America Vice President of Sales)
Kent Jorgenson (UTA Public Relations)
Carlin Maw (Realtor, Ogden City Planning Commissioner)
Dan Musgrave (Downtown Ogden, Inc.)
Max Ryujin (Business Owner, Realtor)
Shelleice Stokes (Ogden Convention and Visitors Bureau)
Barbara Taylor (R & O Construction Marketing Director)
Dian Woodhouse (Ogden Anecdotes publisher)
Janith Wright (Cliftons)

The team met on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 to review the final list of 1,050 name nominations and eventually narrowed the list down to five: The Junction, The Rendezvous, Summit View, Two Rivers, and Wasatch Commons (in alphabetical order).

These five names will now be forwarded to the Boyer Company for consideration. Boyer, developer of Phase One at the site, is responsible for submitting a final conceptual plan to the RDA Board for approval that will include an official name recommendation for the development.

“The RDA Board would like to thank the public for the overwhelming response and the members of the selection team whose time and expertise were invaluable in this process”, said RDA Board Chair Jesse Garcia. “The selection team made every effort to honor all the public input by reviewing each entry received.”

The RDA Board will consider a resolution to approve the final conceptual plan, including an official name for the Old Mall Site, on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at their meeting which begins at 5:00p.m., 2549 Washington Blvd, Council Chambers. The public is welcome to attend.
