Ogden Golf and Country Club Issues Statement:
Support for Malan’s Basin Project

OGDEN, UT— June 5, 2006, the Ogden Golf and Country Club (OGC) Board of Directors issued an official statement today supporting the proposed Malan’s Basin Development.

OGC’s board of directors, all community and local business leaders, are positive about the project they recognize as the “most significant economic development opportunity for our community in the last century ($500 million dollar investment in Ogden).”

The Malan’s Basin development is a proposal that includes building a resort in Malan’s Basin, new golf and housing developments at the base of the mountain, a downtown and mountain gondola system connecting the developments to downtown Ogden.

Clay Thomas, President of the OGC, said they feel the proposed development will bring additional employment, new industries, and an “upbeat to the community,” Thomas said the club is full of community and business leaders, and is sending a signal to the Ogden City Council for those who are in favor of the proposal. “Overall it should be an asset,” said Thomas “I think it’s a positive thing for the whole community.”

While the proposal is designed for economic development, it also is a plan to make Ogden a travel destination. “It will make Ogden a place to stop rather than drive through.” Said Thomas.
