Raptors 5/12/07 Newsletter

Hello Raptor Fans;

It has been over a year since we have sent out any kind of correspondence. I apologize for this but ever since we change website and servers, we haven’t been able to send any out. This is something that we fight about on a weekly basis. So, it was mentioned to me that we should copy and paste all the subscriber names, type up a work doc, and then send out to you all. I hope you get this with no problems.

So, what should we talk about? Most notable, we will have an almost entirely new coaching staff. Lance Parrish is managing the new Midwest League club in Midland Michigan, so our new Skipper will be Mr. Jeff Carter. Jeff is in his early 40’s and comes to us from the Kansas City Royals system. I don’t know a heck of a lot about him except he comes highly respected. Our new Hitting Coach is named Henry Cruz. Craig Bjornson returns as the Pitching Coach, which is great because he’s a great guy! We will also have a new Trainer named Peter Hite. On a special coaching note, former Casper Rockies Skipper PJ Carey will serve as the Dodgers Minor League Field Co-Coordinator. He will oversee all playing aspects with the farm system so he will be in Ogden a lot. I mention him cause he’s a great baseball man, and will serve our kids well.

The players will be arriving in Ogden on Sunday June 10th, and will workout starting on Monday the 11th. The first game is in Orem on the 19th and the home opener is Friday June 22nd. For all you Season Ticket holders, tickets will be printed shortly and we will be calling you to pick up and sign for them. Any unpaid balances will also have to taken care of at that time. Game day tickets are scheduled to go on sale June 1st.

I am often asked what one new thing will we be putting on this season. We have a lot of fun things planned, some old some new. One new item will be “Bassackwards Night”. The players will be wearing shirts with the Raptors name and numbers displayed backwards. All fans will be admitted free but will have to pay to get out. In other words, if you leave in the 1st inning, you will pay $9.00. It will decrease a buck an inning. If we go extra innings, I will give every fan a $1.00 Raptor Buck for each extra inning. Also, the game will start in the 9th inning and work backwards. It should be quite fun!

I am also asked how former Raptor Players are doing. The best way to find their stats is to simply visit the Dodgers and Brewers websites. They are the same in looks. Go to the Roster Icon, then drop down to Minor League Affiliates. Once there, just click the stats icon and you are there.

Again, I hope this email got to you okay, and I would appreciate a response that you have received it. Please feel free to ask questions, and if you need to speak with me, feel free to cal the office at 393-2400.
