10/23/07 Meet the Candidates Rules & Format

Candidates,

Working with our facilitator Kim Wheatley, we have put together a format for the meet the candidate’s night that will provide the best information to the community. With the inclusion of the non-profit board members, we feel that the evening will benefit both candidates.

Kim Wheatley, the designated facilitator, will be setting the ground rules and keep the discussion around these important issues:

  • City’s involvement and/or support of non profit organization
  • Tourism, City Image and Marketing
  • Trails, Open Space and Healthy Community
  • Health and Social Services
  • Value of Culture and Arts in Community
Kim will give a brief introduction to set the ground rules, present the categories and describe the format. Kim will set the tone for the evening as a pro candidate discussion and not an anti candidate debate.

Each candidate will have 10 minutes to introduce themselves to the audience before we open for questions.

The facilitator will entertain one question from each domain. After each domain has been covered he will entertain a second question from each domain. The facilitator will alternate between the candidates.

Each candidate will have 3 minutes for a closing statement (order to be determined by a coin toss).

Please feel free to email Kim Wheatley at kwheatley@ogdenvalley.net if you have any questions about the format.

At the end of the night, we want this important group of “doers” to walk away and feel informed. More importantly, the candidates will hear the thoughts facing this important segment of the community, the behind the scenes life blood that infuses Ogden with its special soul.

Thank you,

Stephanie Christiansen
