Alan McEwan Press Statement

Response by the Weber County Clerk/Auditor’s Office
Concerning Election Procedures
November 20, 2007

The 2007 General Election is now over. The election staff in the Clerk/Auditor’s Office performed the required procedures with integrity and professionalism during the entire election process. Although various circumstances and challenges complicated the process, the staff acted carefully to make sure the law was followed and duties were carried out responsibly. Citizens in the community graciously offered to help at the polling locations as has always been the case during elections. They performed a great service and with the exception of very few poll workers, these individuals were invaluable and reliable in completing the elections. Numerous training sessions were held which covered all required functions for all poll workers. Attendance was required for all workers. We thank all those who assisted us for their outstanding performance and willingness to help.

As is the case with any election, there are those who may be unhappy with the results or wish to find fault with the election process for whatever reason. Fortunately, there have been very few who are identified with this group. The Clerk/Auditor’s Office has strived to accommodate those who have concerns about the election process. The election staff has expended numerous hours and county resources in fulfilling various requests. We are now preparing for the 2008 elections. It is our intent not to expend further county resources and taxpayer dollars to appease a very few disgruntled people who have their own agendas or self-serving issues. We look forward to serving the citizens of Weber County in the upcoming 2008 elections.

Alan D. McEwan, CPA
Weber County Clerk/Auditor
