Is Ogden’s Vision Being Met?

By Kathy Gambles

Ogden’s vision statement reads:

Creative functional community
Aesthetically pleasing city
Quality activities, accessible to all
Diverse safe and attractive neighborhoods
Thriving and broad base economy
Treasured natural environment

If that vision is being met, why does the mayor need a $54,000 professional political consultant from Draper to direct his re election campaign?

If that vision is being met, why do Ogden City Firefighters support Susan Van Hooser, Amy Wicks, Caitlin Gochnour, Sheila Aardema?

If that vision is being met, why does the mayor say that he’s “received a tremendous amount of criticism” and needs to defend himself?

If the mayor has received $183,000 in campaign funds, where will his allegiance be in decision making?

If Godfrey’s contributions are coming in “thousands” from out of area developers and Van Hooser’s contributions are coming in “$25’s and $50’s”, who speaks for big business and who speaks for the people?

How can this vision be met when city administration keeps the city council out of the decision making loop?

It’s time for unified, open, cooperative new administration to lead Ogden toward its stated vision.

Ask questions. Get involved. Vote.
