Sheriff Terry L. Thompson
April 9, 2012
Dear County Delegates:
I want to take a moment of your time and share with you some thoughts on the upcoming election for our new County Commissioner.
As many of you know, I work very closely with our County Commissioners. I have high regard for them and rely on a close relationship with each of them to provide for the safety and security of you and your families. As your elected Sheriff, I direct the day-to-day operations of your Sheriff's Office; however, my ability to provide for the safety of our community is inevitably linked to the budget that I receive from our Commissioners for this purpose. Therefore, a healthy partnership of the Sheriff's Office with the Commission is critical to our quality of life in Weber County.
We have two good men, each of whom I know personally and have a great deal of respect for, running for this critically important Commission seat at this time. I would like to focus for a moment on Commission Candidate Matthew Bell. Matt has been extremely active in the Weber County Republican Party for many years and has run the party as its chair for nearly a decade. Under Matt's leadership, we have enjoyed an era of incredible success. The party has enjoyed more financial stability and party member support under Chairman Bell than at any other time in the nearly three decades that I have been actively involved.
Be assured that this stability is not an accident. It requires hard work and dedicated effort of all of our elected officials--local, state, and federal. Maintaining a strong contingent of moral, ethical, efficient, and effective elected officials has been Chairman Bell's priority for Weber County. Moreover, Matt has been instrumental in the affairs of the State Republican Party as a valued resource.
Knowing Matt as closely as I have over many years as a fellow employee within the Weber County Sheriff's Office, I know that he has the best interest of Weber County residents at heart. I have watched him work tirelessly to build and maintain strong working partnerships with many other elected officials, as well as throughout the county with city and county administrators and staff. He understands the challenges facing Weber County. He is dedicated and loyal to the citizens that he serves and takes his service to his fellow citizens seriously. Matt truly considers the community that he serves as family.
Please support Matthew Bell with your vote as County Delegate at the Weber County Nominating Convention on April 12th. Matt will serve Weber County well as your County Commissioner.
Sincerely,
Terry L. Thompson
Weber County Sheriff
