Steven Prisbrey -- At Large Seat B

I appreciate this opportunity to share a little about me and why I seek your vote this October and November election. Growing up I had the opportunity to watch my uncle Scott Sneddon, run for city council and then later for mayor. He would let me help campaign and attend meetings with him. He loved the people of Ogden and was the people’s mayor. He instilled in me the desire to get involved and to serve.

Let me take a few minutes and explain why I feel I have what it takes to do the job, and why I have the confidence to ask for your vote.

1. Optimism: I am very optimistic about Ogden; we have so much to be thankful for here. Some may put down Ogden, and even the people who are trying to make Ogden better. I support efforts that are being made to bring jobs back to Ogden, and visitors who will see how wonderful Ogden is.

2. Individual Rights: I feel that individual rights are the most important rights we have. The government shouldn't infringe on those rights. Granted, laws are necessary to keep society in whole safe. However, I don't think the government should tell business owners how to run their business.

3. Better Jobs: Ogden has great workers with a wide range of skills, education and trades. We should actively promote Ogden’s workers to companies who will be well served to bring better jobs to Ogden.

4. Community: No one should feel unsafe anywhere in Ogden. There are area’s that need increased patrols and better lighting. We also need to crack down harder on thefts and break-ins. Too many of these cases go unsolved.

5. Lower taxes: We are overtaxed in Ogden, and businesses avoid coming to Ogden because of high taxes. Taxes should be lowered to attract businesses. This will increase tax revenue for the city and will lower the burden placed on the residents.

6. Voice for all Ogden citizens: We have a very diverse city with people from all walks of life. I will represent all citizens of Ogden.

Best Regards,

Steven Prisbrey
