A. PERSONAL HISTORY
- Married to Saundra Smith in 1970 and we have 4 daughters -- Malynda, Suzanne, Julie, and Natalie and one granddaughter - Megan.
- Graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1964.
- Graduated from Weber State University in 1972 in Business management and Marketing.
- I was employed by Z.C.M.I from 1967 to 1998 when the company was sold to the May Department Stores. It was renamed Meier and Frank and I am presently employed by Meier and Frank in the Riverdale Store.
- I served 4 years on the Public Service Advisory committee.
- In 2005, I was the Ogden Pioneer Days Parade Director.
B. ISSUES WHICH ARE IMPORTANT FOR THE CITIZENS OF OGDEN
1. Economic Development.
- Development of the Mall Site.
- I support the Children's Treehouse Museum.
- Building project by the L.D.S. Church is a great assistance to the mall site.
- I would explore the potential of an outlet project in Ogden.
- I support the Children's Treehouse Museum.
- Develop the Ogden Depot Park. There is potential that we can take advantage is promoted properly.
- I support the Ogden River Parkway.
- A Strong Business Condition in Ogden would strengthen our tax base and provide revenue to provide the specific needs of Ogden. This would add to the quality for the citizens.
- Get real value from each tax dollar. Develop projects that will add revenue to our tax base. We need to spend wisely.
- Explore Federal funds that will benefit Ogden. I wouldn't make any commitment that would be a burden to our city.
- Promote the ski industry
- Promote our access to the natural resources.
- Develop the potential at Union Station.
- Support the Conference Center to bring conventions and trade shows to Ogden.
- Spring events.
- Pioneer's Day events.
- Winter festival.
- Develop an annual arts festival.
- I would work with the Ogden and Weber School Districts.
- I would work with the Weber County Commission.
- Develop a strong Fire and Police Department.
- Improve the streets, sewer, water and parks.
- Support the City employees.
- Listen to the residents of Ogden.
- Develop programs that will benefit our city.
- Add to the quality of life in Ogden.
- Economic Development for a stronger tax base.
- Provide for the specific needs of Ogden such as streets, sewer, water and parks.
- A strong business environment.
- Fiscal responsibility.
- Develop Tourism
- Community events and involvement.
- A strong fire, police and city staff to provide exceptional service.
- I will act and listen to and for the residents of Ogden.
- I would work for Ogden's benefit.
