OGDEN, Utah (September 1, 2006)—Regarding the current vacancy on the Ogden City Council, the Council would like to clarify that the replacement for At-Large Seat A will serve from September 27, 2006 through December 31, 2007, contrary to a previous press release. The November 2007 municipal election will include a two-year term for At-Large Seat A. The interim replacement and anyone else who qualifies for candidacy may run for At-Large Seat A at that time. In the next election (November 2009), the seat will revert back to a four-year term.
Citizens wishing to apply for the vacant At-Large Seat A should submit a resume and letter of interest to the Ogden City Council Office (2549 Washington Blvd., Ste. 320, Ogden, UT, 84401) by Monday, September 11, 2006 at 5:00PM. Letters of interest should include answers to the following questions:
• “Why do you want to serve as a Council Member?”
• “Why do you feel that you are qualified to serve as a Council Member?”
The Ogden City Council will appoint a replacement for At-Large Seat A according to the following schedule:
Monday, September 11, 2006, 5:00PM
• Deadline for letters of interest and resumes
Wednesday, September 20, 2006, 5:00PM-7:00PM
• Special Council Meeting to interview applicants
• Selection of five (5) finalists
Wednesday, September 27, 2006, 5:00PM
• Special Council Meeting to interview finalists
• Selection of new Council Member
• City Recorder swears in new Council Member
In order to qualify for appointment to the City Council, applicants must:
• Be a registered voter,
• Have resided within Ogden City limits for 12 consecutive months immediately
preceding the vacancy,
• Remain a resident of Ogden City throughout the term of office (December 2007).
