OGDEN, Utah (September 1, 2006)—The Ogden City Council has negotiated a contract with H. Craig Hall of Chapman and Cutler, LLP of Salt Lake City, Utah to advise them on the legal issues and potential processes regarding the gondola/resort/hillside development project. Mr. Hall will review the information that has been provided to date as well as forthcoming information from developer Chris Peterson.
“Many changes have occurred since Mayor Godfrey’s presentation to the Council last April,” stated Council Chair Jesse Garcia.
Mr. Tom Ellison, Chris Peterson’s attorney, also made a presentation regarding a proposed process to the Council (August 8, 2006). The presentation noted that many details regarding the project(s) will be presented during the lengthy review process. Given the proposed process, the Council felt compelled to obtain independent legal counsel to help verify the concepts and outline the parameters of the process.
“We look forward to the assistance of Mr. Hall as we gather facts, receive public input, and collect data consistent with the Council’s due diligence prior to making any decisions on this far-reaching and very important proposal,” stated Chair Garcia. “We will continue to work closely with the Ogden City Attorney’s Office as well.”
It is anticipated that Mr. Hall will communicate with Mr. Ellison and the Ogden City Attorney’s Office to clarify the many details associated with this project. Mr. Hall is in the process of reviewing the materials received to date.
“This is a very complex and interesting project, with many perspectives to consider,” notes Mr. Hall. “I look forward to working closely with the Council as they continue to evaluate information brought forth by the developer and the public during various stages of the process.”
